What are the pros and cons of transferring to a UC from a California Community College?
I am currently a high school student. I am interested the transfer in Berkeley after attending a California community college for two years. I know I must maintain a high average in order to transfer a school like Berkeley, but I heard that the UC transfer is becoming more difficult each year. What are the pros and cons of the transfer in a University of California after attending a California community college for 2 years and why it is increasingly difficult to transfer to UC schools?
Because the CCC is becoming overcrowded and underfunded, students are having more difficulty finding classes they need to transfer in time. Transfer admission is also becoming competitive. One way to get the classes you need is to choose a CCC honors program that offers a scholars (http://www.honorstcc.org/). Participating students receive priority enrollment in community college allowed to complete their education general and major prerequisites in due time. UCLA also gives more consideration to students in the honors scholars program (Transfer Alliance Program: http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/adm_cco/tap.htm).
